This residence is conceived as a horizontal sanctuary that responds thoughtfully to its context, climate, and the evolving lifestyle of its users. Designed on a west-facing corner plot, the home balances openness with privacy, creating a peaceful retreat while remaining well-connected to its surroundings.

Originally envisioned as a farmhouse, the project transformed into a primary residence as the client’s needs evolved. An existing structure on site was carefully retained and reinterpreted, minimizing demolition. This approach not only preserved memories associated with the old house but also ensured a more sustainable design process.

The planning revolves around fluid spatial transitions, where indoor and outdoor spaces merge. A central courtyard, double-height volumes, and garden-facing rooms bring in natural light and ventilation. All bedrooms are designed with private balconies, strengthening the connection to nature and ensuring comfort across seasons.

Given the west-facing orientation, the design integrates passive strategies such as layered façades, vertical fins, deep overhangs, and landscaped buffers to mitigate heat gain and improve thermal performance. These elements work in harmony with smart systems that optimize lighting, climate, and energy usage, creating an efficient and responsive home environment.

Expansive glazing maintains visual openness, while landscaped buffers enhance privacy without creating isolation.
