ACE Group Architects’ design of the RV University Library is envisioned as a contemporary learning environment where design, atmosphere, and function come together with quiet clarity.

Organised as three interconnected wings anchored by a generous central atrium, the building’s spatial strategy places light and openness at its core. The atrium becomes a unifying gesture; flooded with daylight, fostering the sense of ease essential for study and intellectual engagement.

The library’s siting presented both constraint and opportunity. Located in an underutilised corner of the campus, the project was bound by stringent setbacks and flanked by existing buildings, leaving limited room for formal manoeuvring. The eventual three-winged form emerged from a close reading of campus movement patterns - linking a planned plaza to an axial corridor that threads together the current canteen, the upcoming gymnatorium, and the central Quad. This connective spine, envisioned as the “Knowledge Street,” anchors the library within the daily life of the campus.

The project represents a measured and contemporary approach to academic architecture through its layered palette, diverse study environments, abundant natural light, and attention to acoustic and sensory detail.

A cluster of tamarind trees create a shaded, student-centric open space that softens the massing and grounds the architecture in its landscape. A cantilevered volume, conceived as a bold, extendable canvas for future artistic expression, frames the university plaza and gestures outward toward the academic blocks; marking the library as both a destination and a point of transition within the campus fabric.

The building is oriented to minimise dependence on artificial lighting during the day. After dusk, a warmer, more sculpted lighting scheme transforms the interiors. Strategically placed windows frame changing views of the sky and landscape. A neutral, tactile palette forms the backdrop, enriched with warm tones and measured accents of colour. An infusion of artistic expression adds depth and nuance to the spatial experience, enriching the library beyond its functional purpose. Since acoustic comfort is fundamental to the library’s usability, the materials and spatial planning work together to ensure a balanced sound environment. This sensitivity allows the library to support varied activities simultaneously, without compromise.
