The dynamic layout of the building is simple yet comprehensive, allowing cross ventilation, natural light, and flexibility, while being structurally sound both in form and material.

This sports arena is part of a university campus and is designed as a natural extension of a cricket stadium and vice versa – referred to as the ‘Bowl’, while the stadium caters to cricket and football. The sports arena brings together a range of indoor sports in a more everyday, accessible setting. The idea was to create a space that feels open, efficient and inviting, both in form and material. This multi-sport activity building includes Badminton, Basketball, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Archery Shooting range, Yoga, Gym, Swimming Pool, Board Games and Squash with a total seating capacity of 1500+ persons under a single umbrella for activities combining multiple sporting activities.

The facade uses HPL cladding panels with bold sports graphics, forging a distinctive character to the building. These panels are lightweight, allowing us to move away from the standard concrete block walls and instead use cement boards as a lightweight backing system. This not only reduces the structural load but also makes construction more efficient for a height of 13 meters from the second floor, which is 21 meters from the plinth.
The comprehensive form of the building is simple yet welcoming, encouraging people to walk in and engage with the space. This openness is enhanced by sliding folding doors along areas at the swimming and gymnasium, allowing for better cross ventilation, maximizing natural light, and flexibility of a dynamic layout.
A central glazed roof acts as a skylight, bringing in soft, filtered daylight into the indoor areas. Owing to the majority of events that are enclosed, this becomes an important feature that makes the interiors feel illuminated by natural light and connection between the various sporting events.

Perforated mesh panels further help with ventilation while keeping the facade consistent. Different floorings are used based on the sport, ensuring comfort, safety, and performance. Flooring types include granite, vitrified tiles, maple wood, anti-skid PVC, teak wood, and vinyl.
