The word ‘Aranyak’ in Sanskrit means ‘one from the forest’. True to its name, the farmhouse, nestled in the woods, blends into its natural surroundings. A water body, like a modern moat, runs around the main structure in clean lines, exuding a zen-like soothing ambience. The exterior is a minimalist grey facade that presents a striking image, without disturbing the landscape.
From energy-efficient systems to sustainable building materials, the farmhouse house employs eco-conscious elements that minimise its ecological footprint.
Jaskaran Singh - Principal Architect, Fab Studio

Built on 4-acres of land in Chhatarpur, New Delhi, Aranyak is a single-storey residence with bedrooms, living rooms, a dining room, an office, a courtyard, and a swimming pool, all housed on the ground floor to facilitate easy accessibility and a sense of porosity. Each space has its indoor-outdoor interface through expansive windows and sliding doors, allowing abundant natural light and ventilation. A corridor that serves as the common circulation, encircles a courtyard, ensuring that natural light seeps into every corner of the house.

The uncluttered interior spaces have subtle design details offset by gleaming finishes and artworks. Customised textures and patterns on walls and other surfaces lend sophistication and an unconventional touch.

The garden features an assortment of indigenous plants, carefully curated to thrive in the local climate. Water, acting as the point of contact between the built and unbuilt, conveys an expression of the amity between man and nature through the linear pool that borders the house. The overarching feeling is one of tranquility.
