One has to understand how a particular family lives, to design their home; one has to do in-depth on how a specialist doctor works, to design a hospital; one has to study mythology and religious scriptures to design a religious structure, thus you see, this is one profession, which ensures that one thinks ahead of time, since an architect designs what shall last for another 50-70 years or more. "The current architectural trends, I feel, are just basic Indian architectural concepts - rejuvenated. Sustainable Architecture is currently in vouge, but if one studies - we had it already in all our ancient structures - somewhere in between, we lost track and now we are finally back with it," says Ar. Prem Nath.
The journey of Mr. Nath in the initial stage of his career was challenging. According to him, "During my times, there was not much exposure to any such profession. My relationship with this profession started when I happened to start working as a blue printing boy and then as a draftsman, which exposed me to the interesting facts about Architecture. I eventually joined and passed out from Sir J. J. College of Architecture. From there I entered into the world of interior design and Architecture and have done a lot of hard work to reach on the present staure."
"Architecture is one of the best professions one can practice - it is the Mother of all Arts and perhaps the only profession that enables one to be involved in every aspect of human life."
Ar. Nath has always been establishing a lot many innovations himself - as an Architect, and has many Firsts to his credit, be it the first ever Revolving Restaurant - Ambassador Hotel, Mumbai, India's 1st ever Health Spa & Body Rejuvenation Centre was designed for M/s. World Resorts Ltd, at Golden Palm Resorts, Bangalore; First Multiplex-Mall in the country i.e. Fame Adlabs at Citimall, Andheri Mumbai, is a trendsetter for all other multiplexes to follow; Country's 1st fast-track IT Building was designed, executed and handed over to Morgan & Stanley of USA, in just 8 months period from the date of the first client meeting to handover; India's first Gold graded Township for HP-Mittal Energy Limited in Punjab has received HUDCO Green Township Award; India's first Platinum rated School - Cygnus World School at Vadodara, Gujarat; and many more.
Ar. Prem's design philosophy is to keep it simple and as functional as possible with a touch of drama; His designs are non-acrobatic, yet smart in all senses - they are detailed to the grass root level and that's what makes them successful.
The success mantra, for him, is the Professionalism he and his team follow at studio. They are not only very good in design and documentation but also fast in execution. "It has happened so many times that a client calls us after two decades or so, to review his existing building or needs some information about what was built, and we are able to retrieve the documents/designs, done then, in no time - that's our USP."
Ar. Prem is looking forward to work for major projects related to education, sports, infrastructure. He says, "I keep reinventing myself year after year, and keep upgrading myself for the next - I strongly feel that the future is Smart, and I am currently working on a few Smart projects, incl. a Smart Hotel-Resort, A Smart Comemrcial Tower, and so on."
