Sandwich Panels
Usage of Sandwich Panels in our country is not new. Currently majority of them are used in cold storage industry for walls and ceiling insulation. Conventionally the sandwich panels are produced manually or on a small press (discontinuous line) in India. While the cost of initial investment for these methods is low, the consistency of the quality of the panel is big question mark besides the problem of low capacity of production. Perhaps this has been the reason for the poor consumption of Sandwich Panels in our country despite of its excellent thermal and acoustic insulation properties.

Sandwich panels are two steel/aluminium sheets with polyurethane foam a core material. The picture below shows such panel:

Metecno India Private Limited has set–up a state–of–the–art of unit to produce sandwich panel for building and cold storage industry on a continuous line which provides an excellent solution to quality and productivity issues at an affordable cost. The line will have a capacity to produce 1.8 million sq.m sandwich panels per year in cut lengths ranging from 2 meters to 15 meters from the line. This gets translated into a production capacity of 6000 sq.m/day. This capacity is 10 -12 times higher than the capacity of a discontinuous line. The higher capacity will ensure the timely delivery of consistent quality sandwich panels to the customer.

Metecno India Private Limited is a part of Metecno group with 46 years of experience in the field of sandwich panels. It is interesting to know that the continuous line was first developed by Metecno. Today Metecno is the leader in production of sandwich panels producing through its 22 the globe 30 million sq.m of panels/year. Metecno also produces the special purpose doors for building and cold storage industry. Besides manufacturing of panels and doors Metecno provides the complete solution to the building and cold storage industry. Research and development at Metecno is the way of life. Over a period of last 46 years several products have been developed and introduced in the market by the strong research and development team having partnership with leading universities of Italy, Germany and US. The training to its employees totaling to 1500 member is regularly provided at each manufacturing base and head quarter to sharpen the skills of the manpower.

Metecno India private Limited has set up the unit at Sripermbhuduhr , Chennai, which is operational since middle of March’07 and will produce four type of panels:

Glamet Roofing panel

Self-supporting metal panels, insulated with polyurethane, for pitched roofs with a minimum slope of 7%.

Glamet Roofing panel

Monowall Wall panel

Self-supporting metal panels insulated with polyurethane for use in industrial and commercial rooms with positive temperature, and partitions in general.

Firgowall Cold storage

Firgowall is a self-supporting metal panels with state-of-the-art polyurethane with a labyrinth joint for the construction of positive temperature and cold storage warehouses and rooms.

Monoroof For Roofing

Monoroof For roofing

The above sandwich panels are far more superior than Single skin/Double skin field insulated panels and are available at a comparable price.

Metecno Panels have the following advantages over single skin/double skin field insulated panels and panels manufactured manually or on a discontinuous line:
  • High Load bearing capacity at low weight
  • Excellent and durable thermal insulation
  • Absolute water and vapour barrier
  • Excellent air tightness and free of thermal bridges which results in considerable energy savings
  • Surface finished facings providing resistance to weather and aggressive environments
  • Capacity for rapid erection without lifting equipment: easier installation in hostile weather conditions
  • Easy repair and replacement in case of damage
  • Long life and very low maintenance cost
  • Good sound insulation
  • Reasonable fire reaction and resistance.
Metecno Sandwich Panels are environmental friendly and provide excellent solution to energy conservation need for the building. The focus of Metecno is to ensure strongly positive energy balance which means the energy required to produce the panels including that of for raw materials is on lower than energy saved by the panel while in use.

Metecno India Private Limited now awaits the exiting times ahead where the company will be able to contribute significantly for the construction industry with state-of-the-art Sandwich panels produced from its continuous line.
