The Pune factory is the latest in the row of six manufacturing facilities worldwide dedicated for Pre-engineered Steel Buildings (PEBs). Spanning across a vast 23 acres with a covered area of 27,000 sqm, this facility is capable of producing complete PEBs with a production capacity of 60,000 MT per annum. Already, a vast chunk of Zamil's Indian clientele is being served through this plant and more than 830 projects (1050 buildings) throughout India and Sri Lanka have been catered to since February 2008.
The company is of the view that India harbours a tremendous potential for PEBs, and this is what Zamil plans to capitalize upon in the years to come. India is witnessing an upsurge in construction in various forms such as steel mills, power plants, cement plants, bulk storages, commercial malls and multilevel car parking systems, and PEBs are ideal solutions for these.
"The PEB building system will play a significant role in the next industrial boom as no other system can match its speed, value and quality. Although the current market situation looks bleak as many projects have either been cancelled or put on hold, India's economic growth slowdown will not last long as the government moves to make foreign investment easier and push forward new infrastructure projects", says Mr. Alakesh Roy, Managing Director, Zamil Steel Building India Pvt. Mr. Roy, who took charge of Zamil Steel's India operations in June 2013 says, "I worked with different companies in the similar field, I have never seen such a stunning system that Zamil Steel has in terms of engineering and manufacturing process. Zamil has adopted the latest building codes and quality standards, and it also uses advanced software while designing and manufacturing buildings. Informs Mr. Roy, "The latest building codes are AISC 2010, AISI 2007, ASCE7 2005, MBMA 2006, IS 800:2007, IS 875, and IS 1893; while the quality standards include MBMA 2006 / AISC Code of Standard Practice, and AWS D1.1 2010. The software that we use are ASFAD (In-house), STAAD, eZ-Detailer (In-house), TEKLA Structures, and Oracle ERP."
