The demand for large expanse glazing continues to rise, which attracted Unilux attention. Accordingly, the German windows, doors, & façades major has developed a range of such products and brought them to India to show it off to its Indian customers, which received appreciation as expected, and rejuvenate the company's strong intention of creating a niche for its gamut of such products in India.

In fact, since 1955 Unilux is one of the leading suppliers for all-wood and aluminum-clad-wood windows, doors, and curtain-walls. "All our products show excellence in German master-craftsmanship, quality and design which in turn make Unilux brand a big success across the Europe. As far as India is concerned, we are pretty hopeful of the same result going along with the development in the last one and a half year," says Mr. Aris Dimou, Director, Export CEE / EMEA & India, Unilux AG.

Mr Dimou added, "Last year was quite successful from Unilux representation's point of view in India as we finally got a partner here in the form of Oria Fenestration, headquartered with a big showroom in Mumbai, followed by an office and a showroom in Delhi. Apart from that, the company has a pan-India network of sales managers," informed Mr Dimou adding that the progress since then is quite satisfactory.

Elaborating further, he added, "We have started training staff in Mumbai, meeting architects, developing contacts, giving mega presentation on the offerings and capacities at Unilux. We followed the same steps in Delhi. And the outcome is quite encouraging as most of the architects, after seeing our products and possibilities, seem highly convinced to continue with us in case they have certain customers for these products. These are interesting steps for us for the first phase of the motion."

Meanwhile, the company is also taking help of trade publications for promotional purposes. "We are also advertising in a few select magazines. Besides, we are also planning to work more directly towards contacts, which we have developed over the past one year. In the process, we have started selecting interested architects to work in close coordination. We will try leveraging these connections during my India stay," said Mr Dimou, who is also inviting them to Europe to see the facility in Germany to let them understand on what all Unilux is proud of. "We want to show them the fabrication, the large showroom, and the technology. They can even bring their customers along," he averred.

Mr Dimou seemed fairly satisfied with his Indian associate. "My partner here is quite active, and cooperative from marketing and promotion of high quality, high-end products' point of view. He has very good orientation and understanding about the positioning of products such as ours," he said adding that the partner has assured to extend the needed support for further expansion in the country.

Speaking on the energy-efficient feature of Unilux windows, he says, "No German manufacturer is allowed to produce a window, door, or façade, which is not energy-efficient. This is mandatory. So, every two to four years, we review our products, and keep modifying them especially the hardware for the technical loss. This helps us very much to be in tune with the German energy saving laws of that point in time. For consumers also, this is binding to select products that fulfil minimum standard set by the law."
