TINNY CRAFT happens to be a two- decade old company. How eventful has been company's journey so far to come to the present level?
We are a quite old company who started business of making display tin boards for various national and multinational companies for their multi-brand display programmes at shops, events, stadiums and other roadside areas. After that we came into signage of electric boards, neon signs, glow signs again for all existing clients. It was a great experience of learning marketing, brand signage, branding for lower and upper segments.
Then came the next phase of making guard cabins, no doubt it was totally by accident, since our company was making boards as such first call was there from Thums-Up to supply police posts for Delhi City in a big way and we achieved it. Then we built some posts for police on behalf of Four Square, Red & White cigarettes after that many companies came to us for such creation.
Thereafter other avenues came from builders, real estate industry for making of offices, store rooms accommodations in different materials and at different cities and sites. With current focus on infrastructure development whether it's roads, railways, metro, ports, airports, there is dire and immediate need of temporary offices, living facilities, medical dispensaries, toilets, shelters for labors, storage of various equipment, materials etc at the construction sites. Hence Porta cabins offered by Tinny Crafts are cost-effective and environment-friendly immediates solutions to all such requirements and is getting wider acceptance.
Moving to another development, we have recently acquired Ajanta Doors to consolidate our product lines and market presence.
Where are your manufacturing facilities located and what are the various systems placed at your end to ensure quality production?
We have our manufacturing facilities at Noida and Delhi and a part of it is in Bhutan. It may not be out of place to add here that our initial work take place only at site it-self and it develops shape as per clients given drawing or design. The basic part of such units exist only in drawing specifying doors, windows, work stations, storage, toilet, pantry etc. and we have to follow the given drawing. No doubt sometime clients make changes as per their needs. They also want its location in such a way so that sitting officers & engineers could see outside, and keep an eye on the working staff.
We are an ISO certified company and follow the relevant test checks on our raw materials. Our well trained persons apply quality control as per the IS guidelines.
What are the applications areas of TINNY CRAFT products range? Are these products environmentally safe and cost- effective as well ensuring long service life?
We produce right from Security Cabins to well Furnished Offices, Accommodations, Labor Camps, Shelters etc. i.e. any sort of Prefab which clients want, we make and deliver. These Porta Cabins and Containers are very much widely used at Construction Sites, Thermal - Hydro-Power Projects, Roads, Bridges and Greenfield Projects and all other sites where adverse working conditions are there.
These days working staff at remote areas want good working environment i.e. air conditioned office with hot and cold facilities easily available tea and coffee and other snacks or sometime full meal during days and nights at site and you know these things help a lot to the workers & senior staff in achieving time targets to principal.
The labors are trained and well-equipped with safety equipment to work at various sites. We believe every product from our works should be environmentally safe and of superior quality which can bring smile to our users face and as a result it promotes our brand image.
So far as cost effectiveness is concerned, you have to calculate it in terms of time and working conditions and saving on your staff in calculation to man-days. Then you will see these are highly cost-effective. It may be kept in mind that once you got possession of site, your conventional office complex will take minimum three months to be erected. So just think till that time where your field staff will sit? But in our case, client in advance get in touch with us on the very same day to erect Porta Cabins to their sites which generally we install in next 3-4 days time. In other words, your office starts functioning in 5-6 days after getting possession of the site.
Although in projects these units are hardly used for 3-5 yrs but thereafter could be re-installed at other sites by very nominal, extra cost. The material lasts upto 20-25 yrs if, it is properly used & maintained.
With the current focus on quick construction solutions and emergence of prefab construction, what are the prospects of company's products and their techno-economic and construction advantages over the conventional alternative products?
Future is very much visible in prefab construction line, in case we shall say that industry have vast potential it may not be wrong. Porta cabin is a product which is meant to save time and cost. Besides, the solution is highly recommended for earthquake areas. Its insulation property is better than conventional method of constructions, energy saving is excellent.
Since, it is time saving as such people want it. The government should abolish excise and reduce sales tax to make it viable for rural areas. The need of the house is to make accommodations & toilets for rural sector, schools and other community centres, dispensaries etc. The government attention is paramount if, infrastructure is really to be developed.
India is an emerging economy, energy deficiency and poor infrastructure is even visible in our all metro & semi metro cities. We must think in terms of relaxed tax laws and to compute with international companies and Indian giants should focus on it, it is a quick reply to conventional way of construction.
