Please mention a brief history of your company with respect to how you have progressed over the years. May we also have a word on your product offerings, R&D and Quality Control?
Gandhi Automations is today India’s No.1 Entrance Automations and Loading Bay Equipment Company. We started with manufacturing of manual rolling shutters and from there went on to importing automations for rolling shutters. That was the first decisive step in bringing in advanced automations. From then on we gradually enlarged our product portfolio – automated gates, boom barriers, and doors etc. Around the year 2000, we introduced products which are primarily used in Logistics and Warehouse operations like Dock Levelers, Dock Shelters, and Sectional Overhead Doors, etc. One development led to another and we began to design doors and gates using the latest structural and mechanical engineering software and this is how we grew.
Our product range includes Aircraft Hangar Doors, Heavy Industrial Doors, High Speed Flexible Doors, Sectional Overhead Doors, Cold Storage Doors, Hermetic Doors, Fire Doors, PVC Strip Doors, Flap Doors, Sliding Doors, Swing Doors, Dock Leveler, Dock Shelters, Tail Lifts, Scissor Lifts, Automatic gates, Automatic Rolling Shutters, and Boom Barriers.
We design, manufacture, supply, install and maintain highly sophisticated industrial doors and loading bay equipment. The doors meet various objectives such temperature control, dust ingress, noise control, maintain hygienic conditions, and at the same time allow seamless traffic of forklifts, and pallet trucks etc. All our products are based on European and American technology that conform to very high standards of safety. Our Dock Levelers adhere to the most advanced concept. The prefabricated solutions for the quick construction of loading bays allows a cut by 60% of the construction time of pits and dramatically reduces the need of man labour.
We have a highly dedicated team of R & D engineers working round the clock constantly improving product characteristics and utility. How to make our products safe is our prime concern. The focus is mainly on safety and energy efficiency.
What are the emerging trends in your industry, and what are your latest offerings?
Entrance Automations and Loading Bay Equipment are closely knitted with the construction industry. The Indian construction industry is an integral part of the economy. Construction accounts for nearly 65% of the total investment in infrastructure and is expected to be the biggest beneficiary of the surge in infrastructure investment over the next five years. The construction industry comes with a promising future. The sector will escalate to new heights with construction activities taking place in different Indian cities. Government policies, expenditure in infrastructure and regeneration projects will provide the growth impetus. The industry is seeing a change in the way industrial, commercial buildings or warehouses are constructed by using automations. Companies are also changing their views on automations and are adapting to the new trends in this field.
More and more of energy efficient products are being manufactured and considering the power crunch we face, this is a major contribution to saving energy. The development of electronics and the PLCs used in our products is being researched constantly for energy efficiency.
There is a lack of standardization in Door sizes and specifications in our country, and people usually get them as per their own understanding. On the other hand, in the Western countries, one gets to see standardized Doors all over. What efforts are you initiating to bring standardization?
It is true that there exists a lack of standardization in door specifications and we are constantly working on how to bring about standardization in this field. At the moment we are working along with some of the prominent architects and consultants on this issue. It is an absolute joint effort to educate the end users on the importance and the advantages of standardization. In all this our effort is always to provide to the clients the best of quality and service.
Product customization is also an important issue to prosper. Are you providing customized products and solutions?
Lack of quality workmanship is a major issue in India, and a poorly applied product can damage the manufacturer’s reputation. How do you ensure this requisite? Do you nurture certified trained applicators?
Our company is certified to ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System by TUV Nord. This has resulted in the implementation of continuous improvement in personnel training. At the manufacturing facility we have Quality Assurance personnel to ensure that we maintain high quality standards in the manufacturing processes. All our installations are carried out by our team who are technically qualified – no third party is involved in the process of installation. Our installation team undergoes periodic training conducted both in-house as well as from overseas OEMs.
We strongly feel the need that clients must adopt preventive maintenance programs offered by Gandhi Automations to avoid disruptions, extra expense and lost profits. The Preventive Maintenance programs ensure that the equipment achieves the performance levels that it has been designed for and assures the safety and availability of the equipment.
