What technologies and products is the company developing to reduce energy demands in buildings?

Our Star Cool Shield and other variants have the highest SRI value of 130 for roofs and walls, industrial sheds, and anti-heat IR UV transparent glass coating Star Heat Shield that blocks up to 97% of IR rays, thereby giving a significant surface temperature difference of 31oC, reducing AC consumption, and saving energy bills.
Our waterproofing products include water repellent coatings, primer-cum-curing compound/repairing agents, transparent waterproofing etc, which do not allow water to seep into buildings, offering a long-lasting defence against moisture and seepage, and ensuring structural integrity in all weather conditions. Our Star Damp Shield, designed with a low VOC formula, can be applied on damp walls due its excellent adhesive properties.
Our construction chemical such as the Star Cement Shield has a high tensile and compressive strength that helps increase the longevity of structures, providing resistance to chemicals, acids, etc. Our anti-carbonation paint reduces the release of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, making it a good choice in high pollution areas. Our Star Wood Shield acts as a barrier for wooden surfaces against external attacking agents. Our Floor Coatings, ranging from epoxy to floor paints, road marking paints or thermoplastics, have excellent substrate bonding properties, that enhance the lifespan of floorings.
The company has also developed Europe’s first certified Anti-Viral Nano Material ‘Star Virus Shield’ that kills any virus within 30 seconds. Today, we are offering more than 100 products and are exporting to more than 45 countries, including the USA.
What initiatives is the company taking to create eco-friendly and sustainable products?
At StarShield Technologies, our commitment to sustainability lies in our R&D. Our products are ecolabelled with Greenpro or GRIHA under the ESG compliance. We are creating eco-friendly and sustainable solutions like Low-VOC and VOC-Free Coatings. Our innovative use of nanotechnology enhances the durability of our coatings, leading to longer-lasting products, reducing the frequency of maintenance, and minimizing material wastage. Our products are engineered to enable customers to achieve substantial energy savings of up to 19.2%. This not only lowers operational costs but also reduces carbon footprints.

How sustainable are your manufacturing processes, including recycling and reuse practices?
We follow the 3M or 7R standards to mitigate the environmental impact of our manufacturing unit. All our raw materials and manufacturing processes adhere to environmental standards. We avoid hazardous chemicals, prioritizing the safety and well-being of our customers and ecosystems. We utilize advanced technologies to minimize waste and optimize resource management, ensuring efficient use of raw materials and energy. Our manufacturing systems are equipped to recycle and reuse water, reducing our overall water footprint. We prioritize sourcing environmentally friendly raw materials that emphasize biodegradability and longevity. Our production facilities leverage energy-efficient machinery and optimize supply chain processes to reduce emissions and enhance overall efficiency.
Do you see demand growing for eco-friendly products?
The demand for sustainable and eco-friendly products is experiencing remarkable growth, driven by several factors: there has been a notable increase in government regulations and mandates promoting green buildings and energy efficiency, compelling industries to adopt sustainable solutions. Various industries are keen on reducing their cooling costs and optimizing energy consumption through use of our smart coatings that enhance energy efficiency. In fact, there is a rising interest across sectors such as real estate, industrial manufacturing, solar energy, and infrastructure development, for sustainable solutions. These sectors recognize the value of integrating eco-friendly products to achieve both economic and environmental benefits. Even our retail customers are increasingly seeking solutions that contribute to environmental sustainability and social responsibility.
What are the challenges in the wider adoption of sustainable and eco-friendly products?
One of the primary challenges is the perception that sustainable coatings are expensive. Although our products offer substantial long-term benefits, including energy savings and reduced maintenance costs, some clients focus on the initial investment rather than the overall return on investment. There is a lack of widespread knowledge about nanotechnology and its advantages, which can slow down the adoption of innovative solutions.Unfortunately, the market is saturated with low-cost, low-quality products, making it challenging to compete in a price-sensitive environment. Varying standards and regulations across different regions complicate the process of product certification and compliance. Navigating these regulatory landscapes requires significant effort and resources. In traditional sectors, there is often hesitation to adopt new technologies. Establishing trust and demonstrating proven performance takes time, which can delay the acceptance of innovative products.
