India’s natural stone export market has grown significantly. What is driving the momentum?
India has always had an abundance of geological wealth and natural resources. What changed is the desperate need to innovate and find a differentiating factor. We have had buyers that are stunned every time when we show them what India has to offer. For a long time, Indian stone was considered as a budget option and Petros Stone LLP along with other manufacturers is now focused on changing that perception. This is where Indian quartz comes in and has successfully held its place in the international market. When designers in London, Qatar, and New York started specifying stones like Patagonia or Blue Dunes, the conversation shifted permanently. These are stones setting a different standard entirely.
How are domestic architects and developers engaging with natural stone differently today?

Premium developers have also understood that in a market where every luxury project competes for the same buyer, the material story matters. Stone with provenance, character, and rarity is a genuine differentiator.
What global design trends are shaping demand for natural stone?
What I find genuinely fascinating is that we live in an age where design trends are being set at a speed that no previous generation of architects or manufacturers has ever had to navigate. Social media, AI-generated interiors, influencers and celebrities with millions of followers have dramatically collapsed the lifecycle of a trend from years into months. In the middle of all this relentless change, natural stone is having one of its strongest moments. I think about why that is, and the answer that comes to me is almost poetic: natural stone has always been variable and by its very nature, in a state of continuous change. In a strange and beautiful way, the oldest material in the world and the newest forces shaping design culture have shaken hands.
Designers are not settling for a single trend. Instead, they are reaching for materials that carry their own visual language, and that stand on their own merit. They are choices rooted in the irreplaceable character of the material itself.
How are consumer preferences evolving in premium stone applications?
Consumers today are remarkably well-informed. What they want is stone that is as liveable as it is beautiful. The requests that reflect this most clearly are for large-format slabs, continuous vein flow across entire rooms, and book-matched compositions where stone itself becomes the art. These are not passing preferences. They reflect a consumer who has committed to a material and wants it to be genuinely irreplaceable. What role do Indian manufacturers play in meeting global demand, and what innovations are shaping your products?
Indian manufacturers have spent the last several years quietly building the infrastructure to absorb international demand at scale. Advanced machinery, stronger global trade policies and faster turnaround times are now genuinely competitive with anyone in the world. The advantage India holds across raw material diversity, processing capacity, and cost efficiency is something our European and Brazilian counterparts are finding increasingly difficult to replicate.Reliability has historically been the gap between Indian suppliers and the trust that international buyers place in Italian or Spanish names. Closing that gap is what our entire purpose at Petros Stone LLP has been since the beginning.
We are also actively seeking out geological material that the market has not yet seen, bringing it to specifications, and placing it in front of designers who are hungry for something genuinely original. That instinct for discovery, combined with the manufacturing capability to execute on it, is what sets us apart.
Architects and interior designers want to know what emotion a stone will evoke in a space and how irreplaceable it is, and they are chasing rarity over conventional choices.
