Expressing satisfaction that the newly constructed residences incorporate key elements of sustainable development, the Prime Minister stated that the initiative aligns with the nation’s pro-environment and future-ready approach. He highlighted the inclusion of solar-enabled infrastructure in the housing complex.
Designed to be self-sufficient, the complex is equipped with modern amenities that meet the functional needs of Members of Parliament. Incorporating green technology, the project adheres to the GRIHA 3-star rating and complies with the National Building Code (NBC) 2016. These environmentally sustainable features are expected to promote energy conservation, renewable energy generation, and effective waste management.
The project used advanced construction technology—monolithic concrete with aluminum shuttering—which enabled timely completion while ensuring structural durability. It is also Divyang-friendly, reflecting a commitment to inclusive design.
The development was necessitated due to a shortage of adequate housing for Members of Parliament. With limited land availability, vertical housing development was prioritized to optimize land use and reduce maintenance costs.
Each residential unit offers approximately 5,000 square feet of carpet area, with dedicated spaces for offices, staff accommodation, and a community center, enabling MPs to fulfill their official responsibilities. All buildings are earthquake-resistant and follow modern structural design norms. A comprehensive security system has also been implemented to ensure residents’ safety.
The Prime Minister congratulated all Members of Parliament and commended the engineers and shramjeevis involved in the construction, appreciating their dedication and hard work in completing the project.
