At a recently held award function 'Inspiring Business Leaders' by The Economic Time, in Mumbai, Mr. Sandip Somany, Joint Managing Director, HSIL Limited was recognized for his distinctive leadership.
The HSIL was gifted with Mr. Somany way back in 1982 as a trainee after completing his academics packed with ideas and enthusiasm. It took nearly a decade and more to see the fruition of his plans, after the joint family ownership was dissolved and he took upon the reins of HSIL business. Bringing in a radical shift in the way business was conducted, he introduced a decentralized leadership structure to speed up the decision making process. And, barely a year after the split in 1996, HSIL celebrated its milestone of crossing INR 100 Cr, in 36 years after its incorporation. Thereafter it took just 10 years for HSIL to reach INR 1000 Cr as an independent entity.
Today, HSIL is an INR 2000 Cr entity with dominating presence across several business verticals, building products, packaging products and the newly introduced home comfort category dealing with purification, water heaters.
Mr. Deepak Lamba, President, TCL-BCCL and Mr. Niranjan Hiranandani, Managing Director, Hiranandani Group presented the award at the Economic Times Inspiring Leadership Award function, which also saw several industry stalwarts being recognized.
