The GRIHA Council and Chitkara University
The GRIHA Council and Chitkara University, Punjab, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on promoting sustainability in the built environment through academic cooperation and institutional engagement. The MoU was signed by Mr. Sanjay Seth, Vice President & CEO of GRIHA Council and Senior Director of the Sustainable Infrastructure Programme at TERI, and Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Pro-Chancellor of Chitkara University. The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Ms. Shabnam Bassi, Deputy CEO & Secretary of GRIHA Council and Director of the Sustainable Buildings Division at TERI, and Dr. Sudarshan Pal Singh, Vice President of the Office of Infrastructure Development at Chitkara University, Punjab, along with university officials and faculty members.

The MoU outlines a framework for cooperation across various domains, including joint research initiatives, the promotion of sustainable development practices, student training and internship programmes, and participation in academic and professional events. This partnership is designed to foster a holistic understanding of sustainability and to integrate its principles into academic curricula, campus infrastructure, and community outreach.

During the visit, the GRIHA team engaged in an interactive session with professors and academic representatives from the university. The interaction highlighted the shared enthusiasm and commitment of both institutions to empowering students with the knowledge and skills needed for a sustainable future. In line with its sustainability goals, Chitkara University also shared its aspiration to be evaluated under the GRIHA green building norms.
