With a second line of credit proposed to be granted from the German Government bank KFW, the National Housing Bank (NHB) could initiate a big programme for energy efficient housing in the country. This credit line, for E 100 million is in addition to E 50 million provided by KFW earlier. NHB proposes to use this amount for refinancing individual home loans for energy efficient units, said NHB chairman, adding that NHB was very keen to promote energy–efficient homes in the country. He disclosed that the programme to promote energy efficient housing was a big hit in states like Karnataka and NCR. The bank has developed globally standardized kit for measuring energy efficiency. The chairman also disclosed that NHB is in talks with KFW for an E 100 million line of credit for promoting low income housing.
