The Smart Green Summit & Awards held at Taj Diplomatic Enclave, New Delhi in April 2018, , saw many progressive minds come together to pave a roadmap for sustainable development of technologically driven spaces. Industry insights from experts gave a holistic view and understanding of the ecosystem across the globe.

Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State (Independent Charge) Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, GoI was the chief guest. Anand Y Mahajan, Chairman, Saint-Gobain Group India, gave the welcoming address,

while Martha Thorne, ED, Pritzker Architecture Prize & Dean of IE School of Architecture and Design, gave a special address on rewarding architecture.

Venkat Subramanian, Regional CEO, Construction Products India & MD of Gyproc India, welcoming the audience, said, “The Smart Green Summit and Awards reflects our deep commitment to the green cause through recognizing green crusaders and helping to channelize the fraternity’s collective and collaborative efforts to ensure that the future of our habitat is in safe hands.”

The Summit was a coming together of great minds and awarding of some of the greatest projects. At a multi-faceted conference on Design, Technology, Material and Policy, international and national speakers shared their knowledge to an audience of over 500 top developers, architects, designers, government officials, experts on green building and sustainability, and related industry professionals. A roundtable discussion was held on Bolstering Skills in the Indian Building and Construction Industry and on Safety the 5th Pillar of Sustainable Architecture’.

Pioneers like Rahul Kadri, Frven Lim, and Chin Theo Chong, Manit Rastogi, Pradeep Nair, Prof. Robin Drogemuller, Martha Thorne, Angelene Chan, Ar K Jaisim, Boman Irani, Chhavi Rajawat, Dr Prabhat Rahangdale, O.P. Agarwal ,Paritosh Gupta, Prem Chandavarkar,, Prof. Dr. P.S.N. Rao , Sreeram Ananthasayanam, Sanjay Seth, Satish Gokhale shed light on design, technology, materials and policies.

Commented Manit Rastogi, Founder Partner, Morphogenesis India, “We must look in our own industrious past to cull out a better future.” Rahul Kadri, Principal Architect at IM Kadri Architects, remarked, “Incredulous master-plans and a rigid policy framework limits the effective planning and diversification of living places, suitable to the need of the present hour. Too much centralized planning and the general attitude of urban planning in India does not work for the many millions.”

The event concluded with the awarding of some well-planned sustainable projects.
