architectural horrors
A London skyscraper that made headlines for reflecting sunlight at intensity that melted parts of a Jaguar car has been awarded the annual Carbuncle Cup that highlights perceived architectural horrors. The cup is awarded by a panel of architecture and design critics. This year prize went to a building called Walkie Talkie tower.

The panelists complained that the top heavy building, whose upper floors are bigger than its base due to its unusual flared design has been an eye sore the day the building came up. Its south–facing concave façade reflected so much sun rays enough to melt parts of a Jaguar car parked below the building in the street. The building was developed by a joint venture between construction and property group as a humorous counterpart to the prestigious prize for good designed buildings.
