Recent technology advances in solid state lighting (SSL) or LED (light emitting diode) lighting make it possible for us to reduce the energy used for street, parking lot & garage, and airport walkway lighting by between 25% and 70+% depending on the technology being replaced. Initially, the payback period was very high which 4 to 10 years, depending on the type of new light installed, old light replaced, and maintenance costs.
