In this project, materials create a unified design language balancing aesthetics with functionality, and ensuring sustainability, durability, and a timeless architectural expression.

This residence is conceived as a sculptural transformation of a pure cube, where a rigid mass is carefully carved into fluid, curvilinear surfaces. The design emerges through subtraction softening geometry into a more responsive, human-centric form. A defining concrete arc flows seamlessly from the cuboid, creating a protective yet expressive façade that introduces movement, privacy, and a sense of quiet enclosure while allowing controlled light and views.

Materials are integral to shaping spatial experience, performance, and identity. The design seamlessly integrates exterior and interior materials to create a cohesive architectural narrative rooted in form, function, and longevity.

The exterior façade is defined by its sculptural curve, achieved through a mild steel (MS) framework, enabling precision in executing complex geometry. This is clad with flexible shingles, which adapt effortlessly to the curvature, ensuring durability and weather protection.

The surface is finished with terracotta-textured paint, lending warmth and an earthy character while performing effectively against dust, UV exposure, and climate variations. In contrast, smooth grey exterior coatings emphasize the clean cuboid mass, enhancing visual balance. Aluminium windows and sliding systems are used for their strength, corrosion resistance, and thermal-acoustic performance, allowing ample light and ventilation. Powder-coated metal fins and glass railings add layers of privacy, shading, and openness.

Internally, materials are selected to echo the fluid language of the exterior while enhancing comfort and sensory experience. Large-format marble flooring establishes a seamless and luxurious base, reflecting light and amplifying spatial volume. The foyer features curved ceilings with integrated lighting, allowing smooth transitions and concealing services while reinforcing the architectural flow. Wood veneer panelling introduces warmth and texture, complemented by cane inlays that add a handcrafted, tactile quality.

In social spaces like the courtyard, wooden decking and natural stone cladding create a more relaxed, tactile environment suited for outdoor living. Soft landscaping and water features further enrich the material palette.
