Through disciplined planning and a carefully curated material palette, stone, timber, glass and light converge to create an environment that is built to endure.

Sapna Khakaria

The project is a study in restraint, precision, and material-led storytelling. It demanded an environment that reflected its institutional legacy, while also supporting the modern legal professional. Legal workspaces are naturally structured with partner cabins, meeting suites, research zones, and collaborative spaces. ANJ followed a calibrated sequence that preserves discretion but also builds coherence and inclusivity. The partner cabins line the perimeter so they benefit from the ample natural light, and the meeting rooms are designed to be acoustically rich for confidential conversations. The result is not a rigid compartmentalised plan, but one that allows visual continuity and operational efficiency — a quiet interplay between transparency and privacy.

Italian stone flooring establishes a sense of permanence underfoot while the subtly veining and polished finish give the reception and circulation areas a composed, almost a civic character. Complimenting this stonework is the extensive oakwood panelling, executed in-house. The timber introduces warmth and depth, which soften the precision of the stone and in the partner cabins, the oak surfaces give a tactile richness.

A colour palette of deep blues and crisp whites reinforce a design that allows proportion, texture, and light to create visual interest. Integrated storage walls and executive desks are tailored to maximise functionality and maintain visual cohesion. Workstations are complemented by bespoke elements that ensure ergonomic comfort.

Lighting as an architectural layer provides both interior and decorative illumination in varied zones. In work areas, it is even and glare-free; in meeting rooms, there are warmer tones; while accent lighting draws attention to the textured surfaces and curated décor.

Acoustic ceilings absorb the ambient noise, and rooms are further engineered with additional soundproofing. Switchable smart glass shifts from transparent to opaque to mood and from collaborative to confidential. Sustainability considerations are embedded throughout the design, be it in the material selection or lighting efficiency. The project demonstrates how thoughtful materiality and execution excellence can transform a workplace into an architectural statement of intent.
