Jaisim has been global from day one.
Over the five decades of Jaisim Fountainhead, the content of my architecture has been in context with the technology that has been available, along with the expertise of execution, always keeping the context of Time and Space of the subcontinent and the timeless history of our culture. But ensuring that we never ape the past but learn from it.
Technologies like BIM, Rhino etc, in actual practice (other than my consultants who use them), are techniques that do not influence my creative design process. I have used construction techniques like Precast, PEB, Drywall, etc., from the early days of my practice. All of them are in some project or the other. They bring certain challenges to creative expressions. But one must overcome the limitations of these techniques and make them comprehend the behavioral patterns and allow architecture to lead the way.
The earlier materials have metamorphosed into new expressions.
Traditional materials along with contextual materials can have an interplay. In fact, I find the romancing of both most intriguing and challenging. The earlier materials have also metamorphosed into new expressions. Like an orchestra or a play or a drama the role of the director/architect is the most crucial. There can be a visionary, an inspirer to reality, but the creator who transforms and translates into built environmental expression is the architect. His/her imagination and ability to innovate and make dreams come true without losing identity, is the challenge of change.
I am searching for new materials that can give me greater challenges. Like, lighter than air structures. Services and utilities that are not bound by conventional practices. Today, more than nineteen disciplines have to be mastered and integrated. The five senses and the five elements are the grammar but the story needs dialogues and characters that make living an experience to be explored and enjoyed.
