Kohler has been silently working on a closed sanitation system that will address India's acute sanitation problem. "We have set up a pilot project in Coimbatore to develop a closed loop sanitation system that can help with some of the severe sanitation issues confronting India. We have some test units that are manufactured in India that would be shipped to Coimbatore, said Kohler president. The pilot project will be installed in multi-family, high-rise, low-income residential units. The Coimbatore installation will have five units, each capable of servicing about five apartments. The combination of all these units can provide a closed loop system for the entire building, he added.
