Autoclave Aerated Concrete (ACC) Blocks are fast emerging as one of the most viable green building materials. Though the industry manufacturing the product is currently at a nascent stage in India. It has significant growth potential. Its manufacturing is a revolutionary technological shift from conventional red bricks, which is a 2000 years olds walling method. According to the experts, size and weight (density) are the two major differences in between conventional red bricks and ACC Blocks. These blocks have 80% air volume in unlike red bricks. Their application has advantages like faster construction, light weight, thermal resistance, water barrier, high strength, ease of working making them economical than bricks, apart from mortar savings due to larger size and 15-20% structural steel saving reduce and dead weight. ACC blocks industry has grown from a Rs.50cr to a Rs.500cr industry in the last five years. Of late there has been a lot of capacity addition.
