I have been working in the industry since 2014 and cannot pin down any one highlight of my professional journey; in fact, I believe that the journey itself is an achievement. The thrill of designing spaces which speak for themselves, and having the designs showcased via magazines and the Net, has given me a platform to reach a wider audience. But I’m most proud of my décor line which is the heart of my firm.
Female designers face unique challenges that drive us to hold strong and to take pride in our work. Our work involves dealing with contractors, builders, and construction workers, who don’t like to take instructions from women. But knowing this and maintaining a level head and some degree of perspective will allow you to look past all this.
I draw inspiration from my travel diaries across the globe - there’s so much to see and so much to pick. I believe in the mantra: do what you love and love what you do - it not only helps you work efficiently but also makes your life better
My advice to would-be entrepreneurs in this field of work is to keep your focus and learn to prioritize; do not expect perfection at every stage; appreciate what you have built; protect it, and be proud of it.
