We need to carefully nurture India’s living craft skills.
For quite some time now Indian architecture has been influenced by global trends such as glass facades, composite aluminum panels etc... in fact, perhaps what has taken a back seat is a truly contextual Indian architecture in the context of local materials, climate and technologies.

Some architectural practices such as ours continue to use traditional materials and technologies. We also use glass and steel but in context...others too continue to use contemporary materials, so I guess both work.

Increasingly, precast construction is becoming the norm due to the economies of time and scale. However, we are facing challenges of a dwindling resource of traditional master craftsmen who had complete command over materials like lime, stone and woodwork.
