As a designer, I believe that with respect to creating sustainable contemporary buildings, one has to capitalise on the contemporary technology and at the same time respect the age-old skills and wisdom of our master builders, craftsmen, and artisans for the survival of society as a whole.

The design sensibility of the architect and the user together plays a bigger role in making a building sustainable rather than simply the use of innovative materials that claim to be greener and sustainable. In my opinion, sustainability is a much more serious term to internalize as a system as it is all about how sensitively we blend traditional wisdom and our rich Indian heritage with contemporary technology.

Sustainability is all about values that need to be internalized and must go beyond statistics!
