The external facade of the building uses a combination of reflective glass, grit texture and ACP cladding in horizontal and vertical elements to bring out the bold massing of the structure. Combination of the granite steps leading to the podium and the light smooth composite stone of the lobby creates a formal environment for the visitors. The large curved and suspended porch made of membrane structure enhances the entrance and offers the much-required respite from the linear and robust geometry.
Stone based exterior textures have been used for a maintenance free facade. The large R.C.C tapered facade has not only emerged as a prominent design element but also a solution to reduce heat on the western side. The sloping glass roof over the entrance lobby creates a conical atrium space maximises natural light into the building with the louver panels above for protection from direct sun and glare.
Due to the longitudinal nature of the site, the office block has been designed as a single block of 274’ x 100’. The basic concept was to divide the structure into three zones with the main entrance in the middle, and the office and public areas on either side, with independent atrium and light wells. The structure has a total of seven floors with 2 level basement parking, one lower service floor, ground floor and 3 upper levels. The first and the second level basements are reserved for parking for 250 vehicles and service areas. With a total built up 1,91,259.00 sq.ft, the plan accommodates 300 officials and executives.
Designed by Avinash Khosla and Associates, the building utilizes natural light to the maximum reducing energy consumption with the help of top lit atriums in both the wings. The open office plan creates a single unified, significant space providing horizontal as well as vertical visual interactions with the help of multiple atriums throughout the structure. This building provides a barrier free access to all levels, ramps and lifts.
