LIXIL, a Japanese water and housing products major, which has invested ₹400 crore in its first 45-acre sanitaryware manufacturing facility in Bhimadole, Andhra Pradesh, to produce one million units per annum, has become operational. A select range of Grohe and American Standard products will be produced here.

LIXIL

Drawing on its strong Japanese heritage, world-leading technology and differentiated brand portfolio, LIXIL aims to capture 15-20% share of the sanitaryware market in India and gain leadership of the Premium Fittings market in India. While 80% of the production will cater to the Indian market, LIXIL plans to export 20% to its global markets. The capacity of the unit, headed by Katsuhiko Takeguchi, is scalable to 2 million units per annum. The new facility will be a zero-water discharge plant - a first in the industry in India, and the team is also building capabilities for zero discharge of solid waste inside the plant.

Further strengthening its alignment with the Indian Government’s ‘Skill India’ initiative, LIXIL also announced the launch of Project Nadee, its flagship skilling program for the plumbing community at a recent event in New Delhi. Present there was Kenji Hiramatsu, Ambassador of Japan to India, who commented, “The bilateral relations of India and Japan have never been as strong as today. I believe that enterprises and private companies synchronize well with government efforts, and I’d like to congratulate LIXIL in its endeavor to contribute to the Indian Government’s growth visions. The launch of Project Nadee and inauguration of its first ceramicware facility in India is a strong reflection of LIXIL’s commitment to the country, and I am excited by the opportunities the market presents for growth and socio-economic impact.”
