World Architecture Travel (WAT) brings to you The Masterclass Series – a set of workshops and seminars aimed at stimulating the dialog around architecture, art, design and culture within the fraternity. The first of the Masterclass Series is set to take place in Design Ashram, Calicut on 18th and 19th September, 2018 – The Urban Sketching Workshop, with Dr. Francis D.K Ching as mentor.

Dr. Francis D.K Ching - celebrated architect, academician and illustrator - has taught various beginning design studios and drawing courses at the Ohio University, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the University of Washington after he graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Notre Dame and following several years of professional practice.

The lessons learned while teaching resulted in his writing and illustrating a number of well known books on architecture and design – including ‘Architecture: Form, Space and Order’ and ‘A Visual Dictionary of Architecture’. Although he retired from active teaching, Dr. Ching continues to draw, write and even conducts drawing workshops to professionals and students all over the world. The 2-Day workshop will include an introduction to sketching, an orientation class about his methods and guided urban sketching practice sessions.
