GSBS 5th Edition & #Time2Leap Awards

The 5th edition of GSBS engaged the audience with a conference, B2B meetings, and discussions on the opportunities and innovations in the construction and real estate sectors of India; and concluded with an Award Ceremony. Held at the Marriott Hotel & Convention Centre, Hyderabad, the event saw a gathering of key decision makers and government officials.

The event was inaugurated by B. Kalyan Chakravarthy (IAS) – Director EPTRI (Environment Protection & Training Research Institute), who spoke about the development of greenfield and brownfield projects in Telangana, tackling climate change, water management and other requirements for smart and sustainable developments across the region. N Srinivas, Chief Engineer & GM Technical from KUIDFC spoke about how Bangalore is tackling the scarcity of land and managing resources for a more aligned Smart City development.

A panel discussion on “Building a safer and smarter ecosystem through greenfield and brownfield projects” saw speakers B Kalyan Chakravarthy, Director EPTRI; N Srinivas, KUIDFC, Maheep Singh Thapar, MD, Adapt Technologies, and Vijay Garg, Immediate Past President – COA (Council of Architecture). The session was moderated by Ashutosh Limaye – Senior Research Director – Anarock Property Consultants. Audience gained key insights on the relationship between economy and development; role of redevelopment to ensure optimal land utilization; building capacities in architects, engineers, environmental planners etc to tackle contemporary issues and challenges, and many other issues.

There was a discussion on the “Evolution and Future of South India’s Real Estate Sector” and on “How to tackle investment challenges in real estate”, which was moderated by Shankar Arumugham, COO, Strategic Consulting, JLL India. C. Shekar Reddy - CMD, CSR Estates & Chairman, IGBC Hyderabad Chapter shared his views on the performance of Hyderabad’s real estate market and the business opportunities therein; future of affordable housing in Hyderabad; and on urban infrastructure, the relevance of smart cities, rainwater harvesting and recycling.

The conference concluded with a discussion on “Solutions and Technologies that are transforming the way we build”. It threw light on sustainable construction materials, products and technologies to reduce carbon footprint and pave the way for constructing smart, intelligent buildings. The session also covered emerging technologies like Big Data, Drones, Artificial Intelligence, VR, IoT, BIM and Construction Robotics and their implications in the Real Estate sector. The session was moderated by S.P Anchuri - Chief Consultant, Anchuri & Anchuri), Vice President (South), Structural Engineers World Congress (India), and participants included Madhusudhan Karatgi, Senior Associate Director Projects, CBRE; Dr. Chinam Reddy, Director NITHM (National Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management Hyderabad; Diwakar Chintala, Principal Architect, Studio Chintala; Gaurav Sanghvi, MD, Olympia Merlin Group; and C.A Prasad, Director METEY Engineering & Consultancy & President Pre-Engineered Structures Societies of India.
