Canadian Wood has launched the WoodNiido House built with Wood Frame Construction technology. The modern structure is spread over a 1,620 sqft single-story prefabricated wood-frame display home built by Chennai-based WoodNiido. The house was inaugurated by Ar. CR Raju, President, Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), on 4 March 2022.

The wooden house, built near Chettinad Hospital, Old Mahabalipuram Road, Kelambakkam, Tamil Nadu, shows how wood products can be used within structural applications. This one-of-a-kind house is built using five major softwood species: Spruce-pine-fir (SPF), Western hemlock, Douglas fir, Western red cedar, and Yellow cedar.

Wood Frame Construction is the use of closely spaced members of dimension lumber combined with sheathing to form structural elements of a building. The structural elements provide rigidity, support to the interior fining and exterior cladding, and a cavity for the installation of insulation and utilities.
