A Square Designs unveils a charming conservatory-style Glass House on the terrace of an apartment

Part of an Alipore apartment in Kolkata, the Glass House is designed and installed on a 350-sqft terrace space, which is covered with glass using an MS structure and aluminium windows. The charming terrace space enclosed with glass, connects the home with its green exteriors, and allows the residents to celebrate the outdoors, irrespective of the season.

Patterned tile flooring brings a Mediterranean touch to the space, while rotating track lights, and outdoor cane furniture in a neutral palette and accented with vibrant textured cushions, add to the ambience. A blooming Frangipani plant, hand-picked decor accessories, and serve-ware lend the finishing touches to the conservatory-style outdoor space.

Says Ajay Arya, Founder & Interior Designer, A Square Designs, “We have used Saint Gobain reflective glass to cut out substantial light and heat. Reflective glass is treated with advanced coatings to reflect heat and radiation from sunlight while allowing the natural light to come in. The glass is recommended to be used in double glazing (DG) format, as DG glass also helps in sound insulation.”

Within the glass roof grids, motorised blinds cut UV rays during the daytime. Side glass panels placed on sliding channels can be easily accessed for cleaning and the roof can also be accessed externally for maintenance. “The fabrication was done off site and it took us 3-4 days to install the structure at site,” informs Arya.
