He is passionate about bringing global design expertise to India, modified to suit Indian construction technologies and regional building materials. His design approach is a synthesis of evolving global thoughts and ideas, and cutting edge construction technologies with Indian cultural, social, cultural, contextual, and economic influences. He strives to create iconic, inspiring and functional designs with "inside-out" architectural design methodology, which follows the same philosophy of designing. He thinks that the most important part of the building, its users, need to be acknowledged in terms of working style, spatial and infrastructure requirements, necessary amenities, flexibility, etc. before the completion of the building shell. He views the building footprint, exterior massing, and the building envelope as a reflection of the activities and requirements internal to the building.

In addition to architecture and interior design, Ar. Nirmal is also a consummate builder/contractor. He has led and delivered many large and significant architectural and interiors projects, using designer led project delivery approach. This approach has allowed him to pursue excellence of design, through managing implementation of design and construction.
