Charles Correa
With the passing of Charles Correa (1930-2015), the country has indeed lost India's greatest architect and a genius in urban planning as he was often called. Correa's innovative thinking and unique architectural designs made him the quintessential Renaissance man - architect, urban planner. He swore that he would never design a glass building and believed in open to sky spaces and all his building projects breathe this concept. In a career that spanned five decades, he designed an array of innovative and prestigious projects, leaving an architectural legacy spanning the world, from India to Europe to North America. In his death, the country has really lost India's greatest contemporary architect and urban planner.
