Louis Kahn Plaza
Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) has appointed Mumbai-based Somaya & Kalappa Consultants as the conservation architect and the London-based architect consultant, Peter Inskip + Peter Jenkins Architect Ltd as the conservation consultants for the restoration of historic Louis Kahn Plaza building at its campus. IIMA needs Rs.15 crore annually for the restoration work and is open to the CSR funding or naming rights in lieu of the funds.

According to the IIMA director Mr Nanda, "The Louis Kahn Plaza has tremendous influence on all the generation of IIMA graduates and it’s history in many ways. There were some elements that required urgent attention at this complex. We split that into two parts of conservation and restoration. We want to make it economically meaningful and ecologically sustainable," he said.

Brinda Somaya, the Principal Architect of Rs.Somaya and Kalappa Consultants’, believes that with this project the IIM-A and its Director Dr. Ashish Nanda have led the way in bringing to the forefront the importance of conserving and protecting the rich legacy of 20th century buildings that exists in India today.
