green embassy
Delhi has now got the distinction of having a Green Embassy. The Embassy of Sweden recently got a Green Embassy Award for 2012 on completing the final phase in covering the whole 40,000 sq mt property  with a rain water harvesting system, with 600 sq mt of solar panels installed  on roof of the main building. It introduced an air treatment filter in the office ventilation system to remove 90% of PMI.

The Embassy is fully self-sufficient in terms of water and has increased the ground water level in the area  by more than a metre. Speaking to S.K.Khanna, the Swedish Ambassador was modest enough to tell, we are not stopping here with these new introductions and are planning on continuing with renovation, covering all the remaining roofs with solar panels to present the Embassy as a showcase of Green Building exploring and innovating with new methods of self sufficiency and alternative energy. The Embassy of Sweden in New Delhi has been so successful that it received the Green Embassy Award in 2012, he added.
