World's thinnest sheet of glass ever, just one molecule thick is now added in Guinness Book of world record. The sheet of glass discovered by scientists at Cornell and German's university, has pane of glass, so impossibly thin that its individual silicon and oxygen atoms are clearly visible via electron microscopy, said Prof. David Muller associated with the project. Just two atoms in thickness, making it literally two dimensional, the discovery was accidental. Besides this novelty, Muller said, the work answers an 80 year old question about the fundamental structure of glass. Scientists, with no way to directly see it, had struggled to understand it as it behaves like a solid but looked more like a liquid.
